Bagritznia- (BA-GREETS-NEE-AH)

Once a state within a former Soviet satellite, Bagritznia was established by the UN in the mid 1990s following a civil war between the majority Bagritti, and the minority Tzaganoi.

Bagritznia remained mostly backward and divided for the last 25+ years, it's only primary economy built around folk goods and tax shelter status for multinational corporations. While some oil/LNG exploitation did occur in the Cold War, the lone Balalaikal pumping and Refining operation has been left to rot. Additional reserves were discovered in 2019, however there has not been enough domestic investment nor domestic tranquility to secure foreign investment save for one corporation- Atlas Global.

Circumstances worsened in late 2019, when thousands of Zigonian Refugees escaping the collapse of Azermenajan arrived on the shores of Lake Balalaikal. shortly after the recent discovery of a vast ocean of hydrocarbon resources under the waters. The Zigonian Refugees are part of the larger Roma Diaspora and share heritage with the minority Tzaganoi people, and the influx of non-Bagritti triggered a political movement by Bagritti to reduce or eliminate immigration, naturalization, and recognition of human rights. As a result, a civil conflict erupted between Bagritti nationalist groups (Primarily the Justified Ancient Bagritti Righteous Order of National Integrity- JABRONI) and the Black Dragon Militia, a group of Tzaganoi/Zigonian rebels aligned with various Trans-Caucasus smuggler groups. The civil conflict was broken in 2022 by the combined efforts of Task Force: TYR and Atlas Security Partners, however shortly after UN sanctioned elections, both candidates were killed by an ESOE aligned cell, and ESOE moved a significant amount of fighters and support into the region. Currently, (early 2024) the situation is at a standoff between TF:TYR, ASP, and ESOE fighters
